FM Reveals Reasons behind the Visit of Lavrov

The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov and the accompanying delegation will arrive in Khartoum Wednesday in a one-day official visit.
Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Al-Sadiq said that Sudan is welcoming the visit, adding the Lavrov will hold meetings with the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, 1st Lt. Gen. Abdul Fattah Al=Burhan and the Vice President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo besides the minister of Foreign Affairs.
Ali Al-Sadiq said that the visit comes in the context of the strong and developed relations between the two countries and the desire of both sides to continuously develop those relations.
According to the Acting Foreign Minister, the meetings will discuss the positive role of Sudan regionally, especially in South Sudan, CAR, and Chad along with the chairmanship of Sudan to IGAD and its efforts in dealing with the complications dominating the state members of the organization.
Ali Al-Sadiq added that the Sudanese side will brief the visiting Russian delegation on the progress of the political process in order to achieve national accord and the formation of civil government to rule the country during the transitional period.
On the bilateral relations the Acting Foreign Minister said that the two sides will discuss the outcomes of the recent ministerial committee and the efforts exerted to implement it especially in power supply, geology, mining and oil.
Ali Al-Sadiq affirmed in press statements that the relations between the two countries is supported by agreed on mechanisms such as the joint ministerial committee, political consultative committee between the foreign ministries of the two countries along with the bilateral presidential and ministerial meetings and the Russian-Arab Forum.
