Head of IGAD mission in Sudan addressed the opening session of the Workshop of reviewing and endorsement of the national strategy for Blue Economy in Sudan.

He appreciated the efforts of the Sudanese government, represented by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning besides the government of Red Sea State for organizing and hosting this important activity.

He also thanked the Swedish government for its support and financing of IGAD in implementing the Blue Economy Strategy in member states.

He pointed to the importance of the Blue Economy in regional integration through utilizing the sources of oceans, rivers and other water resources considering that the Blue Economy is the most important plan of the UN in 2020 as it included all the Sustainable Development Goals besides considering it as the most important African initiative for the AU plan for 2063 and the African Marine Strategies for the year 2050.
