110 confirmed cases in Khartoum and 59 cases in Gedarif of Dengue Fever : Health Ministry

The Federal Ministry of Health attributed the increase in dengue fever infections in the country to the presence of the Aedes aegypti mosquito that transmits the virus under favorable conditions of accumulation of water, waste, and others, stressing that more than 90% of infections do not need hospitalization and can be treated at home, conclusively that the cases have nothing to do with Rift Valley Fever.
Acting Minister of Health , Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, revealed in a press conference today, Wednesday, at the Sudan News Agency to clarify the facts about dengue fever in Sudan, especially the states of Khartoum and Gedarif, that 169 suspected cases of dengue fever in Khartoum state were recorded, including 110 confirmed cases through laboratory examination at the Public Health Laboratory (STACK), including 104 cases in Umbada locality, 5 cases in Karary locality and one case imported from outside the state coming from Gedarif, pointing out that among the cases 4 cases are hypnotized in the hospital , noting that the suspected cases of Gedaref 80 cases, including 59 confirmed cases , one case One death as well as one death in Khartoum.
Haytham pointed out that insect surveys proved that mosquitoes vector are present in most states, so it was expected that the spread of the disease would occur in terms of stopping routine operations associated with disease control during the last three years as a result of the economic conditions and the political and security conditions , noting that more than 90% of cases do not need anything but fluids and pendulum, while simple cases need only training, and less of them need hypnosis and platelets, calling on citizens not to panic and fear.
He called on the community and the media to move to support health in control and awareness, he added a major role to the media, and nothing that control is the main axis in the fighting against mosquitoes.
Haitham stressed the possibility of eliminating mosquitoes, reducing cases and controlling the disease in the shortest possible time if everyone’s efforts are concerted.
The representative of the Ministry of Health in Khartoum State, Dr. Muhammad Al-Tijani, confirmed the activation of the pathological investigation in the seven localities and the deployment of emergency teams
He pointed out that the interventions are in two parts, control and health promotion, in addition to training field treatment teams and providing rapid examination.
Al-Tijani noted that Omdurman Teaching and Tropical Medicine Hospitals have been allocated to receive cases.
