Qaribullah: We are keen to Implement an Integrated Plan to Combat Drugs

The Minister of Education of Khartoum State, Dr. Qaribullah Muhammad Ahmed, affirmed that they are keen to implement an integrated plan to combat drugs based on basic axes that include school curricula, teachers, civil society organizations and the media, to confront the danger that has become a threat to society and families by targeting young people, the important segment that development and advancement of the country count on.
Qaribullah revealed the formation of a committee of relevant educational departments to work on coordinating efforts to combat drugs and uniting community initiatives and partnerships to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs, guidance and treatment in all appropriate ways and mechanisms, and harnessing the media and platforms available to convey directed messages.
Qaribullah indicated that 50% of the book of the Drug Curriculum, has been printed by the Ministry’s printing house “Afaq”.
This came during a meeting in his office today with a delegation that included the Director of Secondary Education, Mr. Abdul Karim Hassan, and the Director of Administrative Affairs, Dr. Awatif Omar and the departments of Imam Al-Hadi College, Prof. Abdul-Baqi Abdul-Ghani, Academic Advisor, and Dr. Bakhita Al-Hadi Abdul Rahman Al-Mahdi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the College, and Dr. Youssef Hassan, Director of the Student Affairs Department and the Imam Abdul Rahman Center for Heritage, Documentation and Sudanese Studies.
In a sarelated development Mr. Abdul Karim added that the committee, which was formed by the Minister of Education from the educational departments, represents a unified body to collect visions and develop a road map that includes programs and activities that are implemented through the school queue by providing awareness lectures and educational and guidance doses with goals and objectives in cooperation with community initiatives to adopt them.
Meanwhile the members of Imam College agreed on their readiness to coordinate efforts, support teacher training programs, and provide lectures and awareness seminars to combat drugs.
