At the end of their talks, in the Chadian capital, N’Djamena, the Sudanese and Chadian sides issued a ommunique , in which they stressed the importance of strengthening communication and coordination between the two countries, in a way that contributes to the promotion and development of the existing cooperation between the two countries.
The foreign Affairs ministers of the two countries, Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq and Ambassador Muhammad Salih Al-Nadif, read out the communique in the presence of the two presidents, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, and Lieutenant General Muhammad Idris Deby, President of the Transitional Period in the Republic of Chad. Joint statement Chad – Sudan:
At the invitation of His Excellency General Mohamed Idriss Deby Itno, the Transitional President, President of the Republic, Head of State, the Chairman of the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan, His Excellency Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan paid a friendship and work visit to N’Djamena leading a high-level delegation.
This visit, which embodies the existing excellent relations of cooperation between the two countries, comes within the framework of the regular consultations between the heads of state of the two countries with the aim of strengthening the ties and the brotherhood that binds the two peoples.
During this meeting, the two heads of state discussed issues of common interest in various fields.
In terms of bilateral cooperation, the two presidents welcomed the regular consultations, mutual support and respect that serve the relations between the two countries, and reaffirmed their readiness to work continuously in order to further strengthen them.
The two heads of state also stressed the need to convene a joint ministerial committee with the aim of reactivating all agreements and mechanisms at the diplomatic, security, economic, technical, social and cultural levels.
The two heads of state welcomed the important recommendations issued by El Geneina Conference in 2018, which concern several areas, the implementation of which faces some difficulties. In this regard, the two presidents renewed their commitment to follow up on the implementation of the aforementioned recommendations.
When addressing the security situation in the border area, the two presidents expressed their concern about the proliferation of conflicts between communities, which have caused many loss of life.
To realize this end, the two presidents stressed the urgent need to strengthen the operational capacity of the joint Chadian-Sudanese force, to face the increasingly frequent security challenges in the border area of ​​the two countries through the establishment of direct and continuous relations between the various concerned parties, especially defense, security, and the protection of refugees and displaced persons.
The two heads of state also focused in particular on the exchange of information and intelligence between the security services of the two countries, as well as judicial cooperation. Likewise, both sides agreed on the need for strong and consistent action to contain irregular migration and arms smuggling.
The two presidents decided to hold the cross-border forum on security and development before the end of the year in the city of Absha, as an extension of the first and second Umm Jaras forums.
In addition, the two presidents raised the need to activate the joint Sudan-CAR-Chad Tripartite Force that was created on January 18, 2005 in Khartoum to combat insecurity on the common borders of the three countries.
His Excellency the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, expressed his thanks to the Chadian government for supporting Sudan’s efforts to establish peace and stability, considering Chad as one of the guarantors of the Juba Peace Agreement and its hosting of Sudanese refugees in eastern Chad, stressing the importance of working with the sister Republic of Chad and partners for their return to their villages.
On the other hand, His Excellency General Mohamed Idriss Deby Itno affirmed Chad’s commitment as a guarantor of the Juba Agreement between the Sudanese government and the armed movements (October 3, 2020). Chad renews its commitment to follow up and implement this agreement.

With regard to the Libyan crisis, the two heads of state expressed their concern about the risk of destabilization posed by the security situation of this brotherly country to neighboring countries.
At the regional level, the two presidents also expressed concern about the continuation of terrorist groups in the Sahel region and their spread in the continent.
With regard to economic and trade exchanges between the two countries, the two presidents indicated the need to activate these exchanges through Port Sudan in accordance with the agreements signed for this purpose.
The two parties stressed the urgent need to complete the railway project between Chad and Sudan as soon as possible and the road infrastructure that facilitates economic and commercial transactions.
