State of Emergency in South Darfur and Curfew in Belail Locality Declared

Nyala – The Governor of South Darfur State, Hamid Mohamed Al-Tigani Hanoun, has issued an order declaring the state of emergency in South Darfur State and a curfew within Belail Locality, starting from December 24, 2022, from 06:00 p.m. to 06:00 a.m. until further notice.

The emergency order comes in the wake of the outbreak of tribal violence between the Dajo and Rezeigat tribes in the eastern areas of Belail Locality, a matter which led to the death of a number of citizens and the burning of villages and properties.
