More than two thousand homes and 18 Schools Collapsed due to Torrential Rains in Red Sea State

Police Captain Tayseer Khamis Angelo, spokesman for the Port Sudan Civil Defense, said that the rainfall in the city of Port Sudan were between heavy and medium, with rates exceeding 75 ml, accompanied by torrential rains that entered some neighborhoods towards the northeast.

In his interview with the program “Kalati” on the Blue Nile channel, he indicated that the affected neighborhoods are Deim Arab, squares 3 and 4, and led to the complete collapse of a number of houses that are being counted, in addition to the impact of the neighborhood of Al-Janaen, Al-Shajara, Deim Jaber, Deim Polis, the old Malaga area, Sallab squares 5 and 6, and a number of other neighborhoods.
He stressed that the Civil Defense Forces are making continuous efforts to drain the rainwater and open the drains, and the situation is now better and needs health intervention.
He revealed the preliminary statistics of torrents and rains, where 1,520 houses collapsed completely and 582 houses partially collapsed, in addition to the collapse of 18 schools, indicating that there were two reports of deaths, one of which was an electric shock and the other drowned in Lake Dim Suakin.
