Launching of the compensatory campaign to vaccinate children against polio and yellow fever

The Federal Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the World Health Organization and UNICEF, announced the launch of a compensatory vaccination campaign to vaccinate children against polio and yellow fever in the states of Sennar and Darfur..The cost of the campaign amounts to $3 million funded by partners…
The Acting Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, said that the campaign will be launched in Sennar and the states of Darfur tomorrow, to be followed by another campaign on January 9 in the states of Khartoum, North and South Kordofan and Blue Nile, then campaigns will be organized throughout the country at the beginning of next February. Haitham revealed in a press conference that the campaign aims to vaccinate 1,272,576 a child.
The minister attributed the emergence of a case of polio, after Sudan was declared free of the disease, to the fragility of the health system in Sudan and neighboring countries, in addition to the weakness of the health systems, noting the case that was recorded as an arrival from Chad.
Dr. directed Emad El-Din Ibrahim, representative of the World Health Organization, delivered a number of messages to the state to strengthen the health system and build a flexible system to confront epidemics.
Imad Ali stressed Sudan’s ability to contain any epidemic because of its successful experiences in the field and excellent expertise. He said that the ultimate goal of the campaign is to keep Sudan free of ddisease
