NMSF Takes Early Action Ahead of Rainy Season, Secures Medicines for Localities Before Roads Become Impassable

The National Medical Supplies Fund (NMSF) – Gedaref Branch has launched an early preparedness plan for the rainy season, successfully implementing a proactive strategy to deliver medicines and medical consumables to localities expected to be affected by heavy rains and poor road conditions. The initiative aims to ensure the uninterrupted availability of essential medicines and the continuity of healthcare services.
Dr. Iqtidar Abdelrahman Al-Hadi, Director of the National Medical Supplies Fund in Gedaref, said that the branch has dispatched sufficient quantities of medicines and medical consumables to vulnerable localities before the onset of the rainy season as part of a well-prepared emergency response plan designed to address seasonal challenges.
She explained that the primary objective is to ensure that citizens are not affected by road closures, stressing that the advance delivery of medical supplies to hard-to-reach areas during the rainy season guarantees the availability of life-saving medicines and essential treatments at hospitals and primary healthcare centers.
Dr. Al-Hadi affirmed that the state’s pharmaceutical supply remains stable, noting that the Fund has developed a comprehensive rainy season emergency plan focused on maintaining medicine availability through multiple supply channels. The plan also includes strategic partnerships with the National Health Insurance Fund and other relevant stakeholders to meet the needs of healthcare institutions across the state.
She added that the initiative has contributed to the stability of health services in the localities and eased the burden on residents who previously had to travel to Gedaref City to obtain medical treatment.
Dr. Al-Hadi concluded by reaffirming the Fund’s commitment to continuous field monitoring and close coordination with local health authorities to provide additional medical supplies whenever needed, particularly as further rainfall is expected in the coming weeks.
