Will the Green Belt project be implemented in River Nile State?

Sudan is experiencing unprecedented high temperatures and climate change (El Niño phenomenon), necessitating the planting of trees and the establishment of green belts along the River Nile State border, from Birti to Hajar Al-Asal.

We propose the media’s contribution to raising awareness within the local community about the importance of afforestation and encouraging the creation of green spaces and gardens within neighborhoods, in coordination with relevant authorities such as the Forestry Department and Agricultural Research.

We also advocate for supporting and encouraging the planting of acacia, tamarisk, and other trees in desert and valley areas, as vegetation reduces atmospheric warming.

We call upon the River Nile State government to support, sponsor, and encourage such community initiatives led by young people, and for national institutions, through their corporate social responsibility programs, to support the green belt by providing trees, including ornamental trees, to be distributed in public streets and facilities. This will transform River Nile into a green state and a model for all other states.
