A high-level Sudanese delegation is participating in a UN event in New York

Sudan is participating with a high-level national delegation in the 2026 United Nations Counter-Terrorism Week, held at the UN headquarters in New York from June 26 to July 2, 2026, under the theme: “A Future Free of Terrorism: Strengthening the Global Commitment to Multilateral and Stakeholder Approaches to Counter-Terrorism through Member State Leadership and Action.”
The Sudanese delegation includes representatives from national counter-terrorism and national security agencies.
This participation reflects Sudan’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation and exchanging expertise and best practices in combating terrorism and violent extremism, thereby contributing to regional and international peace and security. The delegation will participate in the Fourth High-Level Conference of Heads of Counter-Terrorism Agencies of Member States, as well as the Ninth Review Session of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, in addition to a number of specialized side events that bring together representatives of Member States, international and regional organizations, academic institutions, civil society organizations, and the private sector.
According to a statement issued by the mission, Sudan’s participation confirms its firm commitment to international efforts aimed at combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, drying up its sources, and strengthening cooperation and coordination between countries in confronting cross-border terrorist threats, within the framework of respecting the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and the relevant provisions of international law. This participation also represents an opportunity to highlight the national efforts made by Sudanese state institutions in the field of combating terrorism and violent extremism, and to strengthen international partnerships that support capacity building and the development of cooperation mechanisms and the exchange of information and expertise, in a way that serves security, stability and sustainable development at the national and international levels.
