Sudanese Red Crescent in Khartoum State Reviews Early Preparedness Arrangements for the Rainy Season
The Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) – Khartoum State Branch held an expanded meeting on Wednesday at its headquarters to discuss arrangements and preparedness for the upcoming rainy season, as part of efforts to strengthen readiness and ensure an early response to potential risks and challenges during the season.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Ali, Director of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, Khartoum State Branch, and attended by Hamed Gasmallah Ahmed, Volunteer Development Officer, Mohammed Ahmed Al-Sanousi, Emergency Officer for the state, Tia Ahmed Mohammed, as well as supervisors and officials from various localities.
The meeting reviewed the state’s preparedness plan for the rainy season and the anticipated needs in emergency response and relief operations to ensure rapid intervention and effective response in areas most vulnerable to risks.
The Branch Director emphasized the importance of early preparedness and strong coordination among localities, directing all local administrations to submit their rainy season emergency plans within 72 hours.
This will facilitate the development of a comprehensive state-level emergency plan aimed at enhancing readiness and addressing expected challenges during the season.
The participants also discussed the completion of training and capacity-building programs for emergency response teams across localities, enhancing preparedness to deal with emergencies, and establishing emergency operation rooms in vulnerable and high-risk areas to improve humanitarian response efficiency and protect local communities.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants stressed the importance of joint action and continuous coordination among all localities and relevant departments to ensure the effective implementation of emergency plans and mitigate the impact of disasters during the rainy season.
This meeting comes as part of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society – Khartoum State Branch’s ongoing efforts to strengthen early preparedness, build the capacities of volunteers, and support local communities in addressing various humanitarian challenges.
