Minnawi: Darfuri civil society organizations stressed that justice and equality are fundamental demands of the victims

On his Facebook page, Commander Minni Arko Minnawi, Governor of Darfur and head of the Sudan Liberation Army Movement, wrote the following:

In a message filled with pain and sorrow to the quintet mechanism, Darfuri civil society organizations affirmed that the wounds of the victims are still bleeding and that true peace cannot be built on the rubble of burned villages, nor on the ruins of lives lost, nor by ignoring the suffering of thousands of families who endured the horrors of genocide, forced displacement, murder, and crimes against humanity in El Fasher, Zamzam camp, and El Geneina. The organizations stressed that justice and accountability are not merely political demands but fundamental rights of the victims and their families, and that redressing the grievances of those affected and respecting their human dignity remains the only path to achieving a just and lasting peace in Sudan—a peace that preserves memory, does justice to the victims, and prevents the recurrence of the tragedy.
