Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mourns Ambassador Al-Rashid Abu Shama

With hearts filled with faith in God’s will and decree, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and all staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, mourn with profound sorrow and grief the loss of a pillar of the nation and Sudanese diplomacy:

Ambassador Al-Rashid Abu Shama – may God have mercy on him.

He passed away after a distinguished professional and national career marked by dedication and service to Sudan. The deceased was known for his high professional competence, discipline, and strict adherence to civil service regulations, as well as his refined character, integrity, and commitment to fostering respect and appreciation in his professional and social relationships with colleagues and subordinates.

The deceased served Sudan in several diplomatic posts, including as Sudan’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, where he left a positive and honorable legacy among his colleagues and all who worked with him, thanks to his well-known dedication, integrity, and commitment to his national duty.

He also made significant academic contributions as a professor in the Translation Department at the University of Khartoum, where he helped prepare and train generations of students, combining diplomatic work with scholarly and academic pursuits.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation extends its sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to his family, relatives, colleagues in the Armed Forces, the diplomatic corps, and his colleagues and students at the University of Khartoum. We pray to God Almighty to grant him His abundant mercy and forgiveness, to admit him to the highest Paradise with the prophets, the righteous, the martyrs, and the virtuous—what excellent companions they are!—and to grant his family and loved ones patience and solace.
