Upon his arrival this morning, Minnawi provides a summary of the results of his recent European tour

Commander Minni Arko Minnawi, Governor of Darfur and Chairman of the Sudan Liberation Army Movement, arrived at Port Sudan Airport at 5:00 AM this morning, Saturday.

He provided a summary of his recent tour, which included Switzerland, France, and Germany, and was accompanied by several members of his delegation.

He explained that they held a seminar in Zurich that brought together a diverse group of Sudanese and foreigners.

They also met with a number of Sudanese intellectuals and businessmen and briefed them on the situation in Sudan.

In Geneva, they met with the UN mission, including the head of the mission, his deputy, and representatives of the Red Cross and OCHA.

They also briefed journalists accredited to the United Nations.

In Bern, they met with officials responsible for the Sudanese file at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, accompanied by a delegation from the Sudanese Embassy led by the Ambassador, and briefed them on the situation in Sudan. From there we went to the French capital, Paris, and met with a number of officials there, including some parliamentarians, intellectuals, and media figures. We conveyed to them the facts of what is happening in Sudan accurately and correctly. We even extended an invitation to them to come to Sudan to see and hear what is happening so that they can convey the true picture of what is going on in Sudan. Our invitation was welcomed by them.

Minnawi responded to a question about the Berlin Conference scheduled for the coming days by saying, “It is a strange meeting, and we have commented on it. It carries titles such as ‘humanitarian issues’ and others. For our part, we have decided to send Abdul-Baqi Muhammad Hamid as an observer.” He continued, “We say that the meeting is strange for the following reasons: They stated that the purpose of the meeting is to reduce tension and address the causes of the conflict, knowing that the conference does not include the parties to the conflict, and the invitees come from capitals that support and back the war and the rebels who are destroying and killing innocent, unarmed civilians. Therefore, I emphasize that it is a strange meeting.” He concluded, “I can say now that it is a meeting that will not produce anything but failed outcomes, and the world cannot rely on it, for one who lacks something cannot give it.”
