Foreign Minister Meets with AU Delegation Headed by Ambassador Belaiche

Foreign Minister and Minister of International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohi El-Din Salem, received an African Union delegation headed by Special Envoy Ambassador Mohamed Belaiche at his office yesterday.
Ambassador Belaiche indicated that the purpose of the visit to Sudan was to assess the situation in preparation for reopening the African Union office in Khartoum as soon as possible.
The Minister briefed the delegation on the developments in the country, noting the government’s relocation to Khartoum, which was followed by the relocation of several UN and other organizations to carry out their duties from the national capital. He emphasized the stability of the situation in the capital and the availability of basic services. He also affirmed the readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to provide any assistance required to reopen the African Union office in Khartoum.
