Sudanese American Physicians Association – SAPA Supports Children Without Parental Care in Khartoum

The Director General of the Ministry of Social Development, Acting Minister Siddiq Hassan Freni, affirmed his ministry’s support for the alternative family care system for children without parental care, stressing that providing a family for each child represents the main pillar in protecting their rights and integrating them into society, while giving priority to children’s education and health. He also directed the need to include these families in cash support programs through organizations to ensure that they receive continuous support.

This came during the Ramadan basket distribution program with the support of the Sudanese American Physicians Association – SAPA, which targeted 140 families sponsoring 243 children.

For his part, the Director of the SAPA office in Khartoum, Montaser Ibrahim, announced the provision of additional support equivalent to two months’ salary for children,
in addition to the implementation of the “Eid Joy” program, the importance of highlighting this segment and supporting it continuously was stressed.

The Commissioner of the Khartoum State Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC), Khalid Abdulrahim, emphasized that supporting families has been a focus of the state government throughout the war, reiterating his commitment to the participation of organizations to ensure continued support.

Amani Awadah, Director of the General Directorate of Social Welfare, explained that the presence of a child in a family represents an inherent right. She thanked the families for their humanitarian efforts and praised SAPA for its early support, stressing that this meeting is the first comprehensive meeting after the liberation of Khartoum and reflects everyone’s interest in protecting and caring for children after the war.
