Saudi Arabia Describes Rapid Support Forces Attacks as Criminal

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia called on the Rapid Support Forces militia to “immediately” cease its violations in Sudan and to uphold its moral and humanitarian obligation to ensure the delivery of aid to those in need.

This came during the participation of the Kingdom’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva in an interactive session regarding the oral briefing by the High Commissioner for Human Rights on the human rights situation in and around El Fasher, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, stated in the briefing that the “atrocities” that occurred in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State in western Sudan, are the “full” responsibility of the Rapid Support Forces and their “allies and supporters.”

In a statement delivered at the session by its Permanent Representative, Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Khuthaila, the Kingdom reiterated its condemnation of the grave human rights violations committed during the Rapid Support Forces’ attacks on El Fasher in October 2025.

The representative also expressed his country’s condemnation of what he termed the “criminal attacks launched by the Rapid Support Forces on health facilities, relief convoys, and civilian infrastructure, which resulted in the deaths of dozens of displaced persons and unarmed civilians, including women and children.”

Riyadh affirmed its position calling for the unity, security, and stability of Sudan and the preservation of its legitimate institutions. It demanded that the Rapid Support Forces immediately cease their violations and adhere to their moral and humanitarian obligation to ensure the delivery of relief aid to those in need, in accordance with international and humanitarian law, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
