Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Justice Meet the High Commissioner for Human Rights

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Muhyiddin Salem, and the Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Darf, met this afternoon with the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Volker Türk, who is visiting the country to identify the grave violations committed by the terrorist militia against civilians and to discuss with the Government of Sudan the coordination of efforts to ensure justice, hold accountable the perpetrators of crimes, and restore rights.
The High Commissioner expressed his thanks and appreciation for the efforts made by the Government of Sudan to strengthen coordination with the OHCHR Country Office, stressing that he chose Sudan as his first destination after assuming the position of High Commissioner for Human Rights in October 2022, confirming his interest in the Sudan file.
The Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Darf, explained the legal and judicial aspects that the Government of Sudan follows regarding the crimes committed by the terrorist militia, stressing in this context that the issue of consolidating human rights comes within the priorities of the policies set by the Government of Hope and is considered a key axis in the strategy of the state.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation thanked the High Commissioner for Human Rights for his visit to Sudan, noting that it is considered a visit in solidarity with the people and government of Sudan following the atrocities and grave violations committed by the terrorist militia against the Sudanese citizens.
