SFPA: 2026 Will Be the Year of Supporting Disability Projects

At the conclusion of a workshop on empowering people with disabilities, the Executive Director of Sudan Family Planning Association (SFPA), Mr Al-Shafi’i Muhammad Ali, stated that the association maintains a strong relationship and partnership with disability organizations in Sudan to promote disability rights, recognizing that people with disabilities are an integral part of society.

He revealed the association’s adoption and support of disability projects, adding that 2026 will be the year of focus for the SFPA , emphasizing the need to address the challenges of disability in practical application.

He announced the launch of sign language training in all branches of the association in Sudan, explaining that 16 health centers affiliated with the association have already provided sign language training.

ĺĺFor her part, Ms. Kawthar Mohamed Ibrahim, Executive Director of the SFPA – River Nile Branch – explained that the workshop aimed to raise awareness and improve communication skills within the community.

Dr. Walid Al-Obeid, Head of the Sudanese Network for Persons with Disabilities, explained that the workshop aimed to promote disability rights and train 48 participants with support from UNICEF.

During the workshop, student Ammar Mohamed Khatmi was honored for his outstanding performance in the River Nile State Intermediate Certificate Examination, which underscores the ability of people with disabilities to overcome challenges.
