Minister of Energy Receives South Sudan Delegation

Minister of Energy, Engineer Al-Mutasim Ibrahim Ahmed, affirmed that Sudan and South Sudan share historical relations and common interests in several fields, most notably oil. This came during his meeting with a delegation from the Republic of South Sudan, led by Tut Gatluak, Security Advisor to President Salva Kiir Mayardit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum, and a number of South Sudanese technical experts.

The delegation visited the oil export terminals in Port Sudan, Bashayer (1 and 2), today. The meeting with Petrolines Crude Oil Company (PETCO) and Bashayer Pipeline Company (BAPCO), which transport South Sudanese oil via pipelines, discussed the smooth flow of crude oil exports, efforts to maintain this flow, and cooperation between the two countries in this vital sector, which is of paramount importance to both nations.

The Minister of Energy affirmed his ministry’s technical readiness to operate and maintain petroleum facilities to serve both brotherly nations. He explained that this visit comes within the framework of reciprocal visits between the two sides to facilitate the smooth flow of petroleum operations, noting that Sudan and South Sudan are like one family managing a shared sector of great economic importance to both countries.
