A comprehensive plan to address primary health care challenges

The Director General of the Ministry of Health in Khartoum State, the Acting Minister, Dr. Fateh Al-Rahman Mohamed Al-Amin, held a meeting with the General Directorate of Primary Health Care, headed by its Director, Dr. Hisham Abdullah, and in the presence of the directors of the competent departments, to discuss the challenges and obstacles facing the progress of work in the department.

Dr. Fateh Al-Rahman stressed that primary health care represents the cornerstone of the health system and the beating heart of the Ministry’s work, as it is directly linked to community services and targets the most needy segments.

He pointed out that the previous period had witnessed the implementation of a number of activities in an emergency and innovative manner, without relying on prior and systematic planning.

He stressed the need to coordinate and sit down with the specialized department to prepare clear detailed plans that contribute to addressing urgent issues, foremost of which are the problems of electricity supply and delays in incentives for workers.

The meeting also discussed proposals to appoint midwives and intensify training and capacity-building programs, which will positively reflect on improving the quality of health services provided to citizens and enhancing the efficiency of performance in primary health care centers.
