Sudan and Syria discuss enhancing academic and research cooperation between the two countries

Sudan and Syria reviewed the prospects of academic cooperation between the two sides, stressing the importance of investing in scientific research as a key pillar to achieve sustainable development between the two countries. They also discussed the possibility of exchanging experiences between Sudanese and Syrian universities, implementing joint programs in the fields of applied research, postgraduate studies, and curriculum development, in addition to supporting the movement of researchers and students between the two countries.

This came in the meeting held by Prof. Ahmed Mudawi Moussa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with his Syrian counterpart, Prof. Marwan Al-Halabi, within the framework of the activities of the inauguration of the Solidarity for the Future Initiative to support scientific research in conflict-affected countries organized by the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils in Cairo under the auspices of the Secretary-General of the Arab League, where Prof.

Mudawi stressed that Sudan attaches special importance to the development of scientific research, and that cooperation with Syria is an addition to the process of higher education in the country, especially In light of the experiences that Syrian universities possess in various fields.

Dr. Marwan Al-Halabi stressed Syria’s keenness to strengthen its academic relations with Sudan, considering that the next stage requires concerted efforts to build an integrated Arab scientific system capable of facing modern challenges.
