Joint Security Forces thwart a dangerous infiltration attempt into Omdurman

The joint security force, comprised of the General Intelligence Service, the police, and the armed forces, announced the thwarting of an infiltration attempt by an armed group aiming to incite chaos and unrest within Omdurman and destabilize security and stability in the capital.

Security sources stated that the joint force successfully foiled the suspicious activity before it could be carried out. The armed group was monitored and engaged on the ground after precise intelligence was received regarding their intentions.

After his arrest and interrogation, one of the group members revealed the locations of sleeper cells with whom they had coordinated to carry out the operation within the city. He indicated that the objective was to create limited chaos among citizens and then withdraw amidst the ensuing security confusion. He added that the rumors recently circulating about the situation in some cities were part of a plan to distract public opinion and divert attention from the activity within Omdurman.

Security authorities confirmed that their agencies are continuing to monitor and track any suspicious movements, emphasizing their commitment to protecting citizens and maintaining the stability of the capital against any attempts at infiltration or sabotage.

Sources said that the militia has recently been attempting to spread rumors as part of a psychological warfare campaign following its capture of El Fasher. They claimed their intention to attack cities in northern Sudan, including the capital, Khartoum, causing temporary anxiety among some residents in safe areas.

Meanwhile, a state of cautious calm prevails in El Obeid, amidst a limited exodus of some citizens towards White Nile State, following threats issued by the militia to invade the city.

However, eyewitnesses confirmed to SUNA that civilian institutions in El Obeid are functioning normally and that the city’s residents maintain strong cohesion and high confidence in the security forces. They noted that El Obeid differs from other cities due to its residents’ experience in dealing with crises.

For its part, Darfur24 reported that a partial exodus has already begun from El Obeid to central states and neighboring rural areas, in anticipation of any emergency, especially after the Rapid Support Forces entered Bara, a city located northeast of El Obeid.

The Sudanese security services continue to implement a large-scale deployment plan to secure vital cities and prevent the infiltration of any armed elements into safe areas, amid escalating attempts to destabilize the country through field operations and media warfare.
