FM: Government prioritizes implementing the roadmap announced by Al-Burhan
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohieddin Salem, affirmed Sudan’s appreciation for Egypt’s efforts in supporting its security and stability and enhancing efforts to support national state institutions, including the armed forces.
Salem said during the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development today, Sunday, that Egypt’s keenness is embodied in dedicating a special session on Sudan during the forum to discuss ways to support efforts to end the war in accordance with the visions set by the Sudanese government and derived from the aspirations of the Sudanese people. He added that the hope was also expressed by the Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, in appointing a government of technocrats headed by Kamel Idris, reiterating the transitional government’s commitment to supporting peace efforts, enabling the country to enter the implementation phase of the reconstruction process in various sectors.
Salem indicated that the transitional government’s top priority is implementing the roadmap announced by Al-Burhan, which enhances the peace process, restores infrastructure, and resumes vital services, including roads, education, and others. He noted the significant national efforts being made in this regard, reiterating Sudan’s aspiration for regional and international partnerships that benefit the country and the world.
The Foreign Minister reiterated Sudan’s commitment to the global trend toward peace, noting that the use of starvation by terrorist militias against civilians in El Fasher is no less heinous than what Israel did to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. He reiterated Sudan’s aspiration to condemn the violations of terrorist militias and their mobilization of mercenaries from within and outside the region, undermining regional peace and security.
It is worth noting that the special session on Sudan witnessed the participation of a number of high-level speakers, most notably the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdel Aty; the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi; the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Sudan, Ramtane Lamamra; the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Sudan; the European Union Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa; and the Chair of the African High-Level Implementation Panel.
