The Higher Joint Committee between Health Insurance and Zakat agrees to target more than 23,000 families

The Higher Joint Committee between the General Secretariat of the Zakat Bureau and the National Health Insurance Fund approved, during its meeting today, under the supervision of the Minister of Social Welfare in Gezira State, Yasser Khader Nassar, with the participation of the Director of the General Directorate of Health Services, Dr. Siddiq Al-Tayeb Wahaballah, and Dr. Al-Amin Ali Alwa, Director of the General Directorate of Advocacy and Information, headed by the General Secretariat of the Zakat Bureau, and members of the committee from the center and the state.

The committee approved the statistics of the state survey, which revealed the targeting of 23,034 families, including the lists of the disabled and reviewing them.The committee also approved the payment of family sponsorship debts for the previous years, totaling 1.5 billion.

The Director of the General Directorate of Health Services, headed by the Fund, stressed the strength of coordination and cooperation with the Zakat Bureau to achieve social justice in the provision of health services,
The Director of the Zakat Bureau in the state, Mr. Essam Musa, renewed the commitment of Zakat to sponsor families according to the updated outputs of the data, which was agreed upon, pointing out that the renewal of the cards will be announced in the coming days.

The Director of Health Insurance in the Gezira State Branch presented a report on the status of the technical review of more than 39 thousand families, pointing out that the state was affected by displacement for security reasons during the year 2024 to date, which affected the results of the surveys, and reviewed the status of providing integrated medical services through 187 institutions and health facilities in the state.
