PM chairs a meeting with the Ministry of Energy to discuss the return to Khartoum

The Prime Minister affirmed that electricity represents the mainstay for citizens to return to their homes in Khartoum State. This came during his chairing of a meeting with the Ministry of Energy and Oil at the Khartoum State Government Secretariat Hall. The meeting also aimed to return the ministry’s workforce to Khartoum and discuss the plan to supply Khartoum and its various parts with electricity and petroleum products. It also aimed to discuss the overall performance in the electricity and petroleum sectors. The Prime Minister confirmed the plans developed by the Ministry of Energy and Oil for the development of Khartoum. He emphasized that electricity represents the mainstay for citizens’ return, as it is linked to all other services, allowing them to return to their homes and resume their work, as well as other services such as health, education, water, and petroleum products.

The Minister of Energy and Oil indicated that his ministry has started with clear plans for the return of its employees to their headquarters in Khartoum, as well as some employees of the oil sector. He said that the ministry has supplied the main water and electricity stations and 90% of health institutions with electricity, in addition to accompanying it with an urgent plan to supply oil wells and stations with solar energy. He pointed out that his ministry has implemented the emergency plan in Khartoum, while emphasizing the message of the Prime Minister that citizens are looking forward to returning to Khartoum, but the necessary services must be provided. He promised that Khartoum will witness electricity in the coming days from several transformer stations that contribute to the stability of the electricity current, in addition to a plan to return the central control center to its former state and reassure citizens that the available electricity exceeds consumers’ requirements.
