Governor of West Darfur Appeals to the International Community to Prioritize Sudanese Refugees in Chad

The Governor of West Darfur State,General Bahr al-Din Adam Karama , appealed to the international community and humanitarian organizations working in the humanitarian field to prioritize the refugees from eastern Chad, stressing that their living conditions have reached a very critical stage and lack even the minimum necessities of life.

“The suffering of Sudanese refugees in eastern Chad is indescribable,” the governor said in limited press statements today, pointing to the severe shortages of food, water, and health services, which require urgent and rapid intervention to save the lives of thousands of families.

Karama added that the state government is making its utmost efforts to follow up on the situation of refugees and provide all possible services in coordination with international and humanitarian organizations, despite the harsh conditions.

The governor also expressed his thanks and appreciation to the organizations working among the refugees, commending their great humanitarian role and commitment to neutrality in performing their duties away from any favoritism.

He stressed that the Government of West Darfur will continue to closely monitor the issues of the refugees, and that their humanitarian file will remain a top priority until their dignified return to their homes in an atmosphere of security and peace.
