Tech nostalgia: The golden days

When it comes to technology, if given the opportunity to go back 20 years I would, and for a few good reasons. Today’s children may never experience the shared excitement of gathering around a single family television.

Sometimes you have a single radio for the whole neighborhood. At that time, for people this simplicity was a major form of entertainment. They had no WIFI and no Al yet people were happier and had more time to spare back then. So I say that to say this, we are in a world where progress in technological advancement is indeed becoming a loss. It is strange enough that old tech has a deep connection to our childhood and past. And it’s not about the gadgets but rather how they made us feel. These memories of the past evoke a sense of nostalgia which often newer tech can’t replicate. But why would we care about old and inefficient technology when the world has moved on from? In reality if you think about it, old devices had a physical feel to it, they were more than just tools but real experiences. Not to mention that gadgets of the past reminded us of simpler times that connect to our everyday life. And to be honest, life was way easier back then. Today there’s even a thriving market for old and vintage tech, for what we once threw away. But the bittersweet realization is this. The smart devices we use today may one day trigger a similar nostalgic feeling we have today.
