Resumption of studies at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Khartoum

The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Khartoum resumed its academic activities on Sunday, July 20, with its first lecture at the main campus on Republican Palace Street after a hiatus of more than two years due to the war.

The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Khartoum was affected by its strategic location near the Republican Palace, where fierce fighting took place between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, resulting in the destruction of some of the faculty’s buildings.

The university has decided to resume studies in all its faculties after the reasons that led to its hiatus for more than two years have been resolved.

A source at the University of Khartoum reported that the Faculty of Medicine hosted its first lecture after the hiatus in Al-Baghdadi Hall.
This symbolic initiative was led by Professor Kamal Al-Zaki for sixth-year students, with the attendance of students from various levels and graduates.

The source added that the purpose of the lecture is to encourage students and their parents to return to their studies in Khartoum State.

He pointed out that the university has decided to resume studies in all its faculties after the reasons that led to their suspension for more than two years have been resolved.

He confirmed that the university administration is working diligently to prepare the university environment at its headquarters and faculties after the extensive damage to its buildings.

The University of Khartoum had previously announced its decision to resume studies in several of its faculties in the capital, Khartoum, and Omdurman, confirming its readiness to receive students in all its faculties, according to a statement by the university’s director, Professor Ardeeb.
