A training workshop to support rape survivors Launches

The training workshop to support rape survivors was launched in Kassala State, targeting midwives from 6 states, which was organized by the National Program for Reproductive Health at the General Administration of Basic Health Care at the Federal Ministry of Health in cooperation with UNICEF and with the support of the World Bank for the project to enhance community resilience.

The Director of the National Program for Reproductive Health, Amal Mahmoud, stressed at the beginning of the workshop that the importance of the workshop lies in its targeting of midwives, as they are the first line of defense in treating rape survivors, noting their great role during the war, including helping pregnant women in light of the lack of care in health institutions due to the damage they suffered as a result of the bombing.
Mahmoud pointed out that the presence of community midwives during the war and the availability of their services demonstrated the resilience of the health system , appreciating the role of partners.

It is worth mentioning the workshop was participated by midwives from the states of Kassala, Gedarif, Northern, Sennar, Gezira and Blue Nile region.
