Khartoum Governor Discusses Food Aid and Contribution to Reconstruction of Service Facilities with the WFP

Khartoum Governor Ahmed Osman Hamza discussed today with a World Food Programme delegation headed by Country Director Laurent Lova a number of issues related to the program’s work in the state.
The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Ministry of Social Development, Siddiq Ferini; the Director General of the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Al-Tayeb Saad El-Din; and the Commissioner for Voluntary and Humanitarian Work in the state, Khalid Abdel Rahim.

The meeting addressed joint cooperation and coordination of efforts to deliver aid following the opening of the organization’s permanent headquarters in Khartoum.
The governor thanked the program for its efforts during the previous period and the support it provided to those affected by the war.
He stated that the opening of the program’s headquarters would help resolve problems and addressing it on the ground.
He called for international support to go beyond food aid to help rebuild services that achieve stability for citizens.
The governor called for a re-survey based on the changes that have occurred since the state stabilized, many citizens returned to their areas, and the expected return of shelter residents to their homes.

The country director, head of the delegation, emphasized the need for assistance at this stage, imposed by the return of many families, with the aim of providing more assistance, given the greater scale of need.
He added that he would extend an invitation to donors to provide more assistance.
