Sudan participates in high-level dialogue session on maternal and child health in Geneva

The Sudanese delegation, headed by Acting Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, began its participation in the 78th World Health Assembly in Geneva. The delegation participated in a high-level dialogue session on maternal and child health, attended by representatives from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), and several African ministers.

Sudan also participated in an event organized by the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), in collaboration with the African Leaders Alliance for Malaria Control and the Global Partnership for Malaria Elimination. The event was attended by the Director of Emergency and Epidemic Control, Dr. Montaser Mohamed Osman.

During the event, participants emphasized the importance of concerted African action to eradicate malaria, highlighting the challenges related to high rates of infection and child mortality, as well as the need to secure resources and enhance Enhance local pharmaceutical manufacturing, develop vaccines, and transfer new technologies. They also emphasized the importance of African innovations, cooperation among member states, commitment to the Yaoundé Declaration, and the creation of effective national programs to combat the disease.
