Jaber Meets with the Secretary-General of the Arab League

Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Assistant Commander-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber, met yesterday in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
In a press statement, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, Hossam Zaki, said that the meeting addressed developments in Sudan, noting that the two sides share identical views on all issues.
His Excellency affirmed that the Arab League has strengthened its diplomatic role by coordinating with the United Nations and the African Union through a tripartite mechanism to stop the war in Sudan. His Excellency revealed consensus on an Arab League resolution supporting Sudan’s unity and sovereignty over its territory, preserving its institutions, and non-interference in its internal affairs, thus strengthening Sudan’s position in confronting the challenges it faces. The Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League expressed his hope that the efforts made will lead to peace and stability in the country.
