Reports: 95% of new cholera cases are registered in Khartoum State

The meeting of the Federal Emergency Operations Center revealed the registration of 12 new cases of cholera, including one death, bringing the cumulative number of infections in 88 localities across 12 states to 60,993, including 1,632 deaths. It was announced that 95% of new infections are in Khartoum State.

The epidemiological situation report, presented in the meeting today, Tuesday, in the emergency hall of the public health laboratory in Kassala City, confirmed the registration of 106 cases of measles in 30 localities across 10 states, bringing the cumulative total to 1,160 infections. Meanwhile, the country recorded 153 cases of hepatitis C (E) associated with the lack of safe water and poor environmental sanitation in the locality of West Kassala, noting the high rate of malaria.

The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Kuwait Patients Relief Fund (KSF) submitted separate reports on their activities, while Khartoum State Health noted that cholera cases continue to be recorded, with interventions being implemented.

The meeting directed the implementation of a campaign against cholera in the localities of Khartoum state registered for positive cases, and preparation for the fall in light of the expected increase in rain in the country, and intervention to confront diphthora in the states that recorded infections.
