China and Russia raise the red card to the parallel government in Sudan

During a session of the UN Security Council, China and Russia warned of the danger of any moves aimed at forming a parallel government in Sudan, stressing that such a move could undermine the unity of the country and further complicate the current crisis.

China’s representative to the Security Council stressed that the announcement by some armed groups of their intention to form a parallel government represents a threat to Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity, stressing that Beijing supports Sudan’s sovereignty and rejects any attempts to weaken the central government. He also called for the need to resolve the conflict through political dialogue and peaceful negotiations.

For his part, the Russian representative to the Security Council stressed that his country believes that the shortest way out of the humanitarian crisis in Sudan is direct cooperation with the central government and official bodies, warning that any attempts to establish a parallel entity may increase the state of chaos and exacerbate human suffering.
