Darfur Governor Discusses with UN officials the humanitarian situation in Darfur

Darfur Region Governor, Minni Arko Minnawi, met yesterday afternoon with the Head of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security, Senior Security Advisor in Sudan, and Mr. Essam Ghoneim, the official, liaison officer and coordinator of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security in Sudan, as part of a series of meetings held by the Governor.

Minnawi wrote in a tweet on his account on the (X) platform:
Today I had the honor of meeting with Mr. Leonardo Cunha, Head of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security and Senior Security Advisor in Sudan, and Mr. Essam Ghoneim, the official, liaison officer and coordinator of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security in Sudan.
We discussed the difficult humanitarian situation in Darfur and discussed how to reach those affected in the region and open the way for international task forces to monitor humanitarian work.

We also believe in the need to open channels of direct work with the Darfur Regional Government and the Federal Government for coordination and arrangement, and the importance of strengthening international efforts to support peace and stability in the region. The challenges facing the people of Darfur require global cooperation and coordination from everyone to help them overcome these difficult times.
