Agarl meets the Director of the Africa Department at the Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development

Deputy Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Commander Malik Agar Ayre, met today with Ambassador Nicholas Randin, Director of the Africa Department at the Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development (SDC). Accompanied by Ms. Catherine Weiss, Head of the Sudan Program and Mr. Stefan Bombacher, Financial Officer of the Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development, along with the Swiss Envoy to the Horn of Africa, Silvan Esther.
The meeting discussed the situation in Sudan, the current developments, and the efforts of the Sudanese government and its keenness to end the suffering of the Sudanese people.
During the meeting, Agar stressed that the obstacle to achieving peace is the presence of foreign mercenaries fighting in the ranks of the rebel militia.
Agar informed Ambassador Nicholas of his dissatisfaction with the propaganda promoted by some organizations that there is a famine in Sudan.
He indicated that this visit contributed to standing on the situation closely and not through reports, which have always been written and reflecting to European officials facts that are far from reality.
Commander Malik Agar praised the efforts made by the Swiss government to support the Sudanese in their ordeal and provide humanitarian assistance.
For his part, Ambassador Nicholas thanked the Sudanese government for facilitating the work of relief teams and employees of organizations working in the humanitarian field.
The Director of the Africa Department at the Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development briefed the Deputy Head of the Sovereignty Council on the results of his visits to Kassala State and Port Sudan, where he observed the humanitarian conditions.
