SFPA calls for intensifying awareness about the misconception of using IUDs

Ms. Kawthar Mohamed Ibrahim, Executive Director of the Sudanese Family Planning Association (SFPA) in River Nile State, said that (the long-term family planning workshop) aims at developing skills and improve performance to create a healthy and societal balance through long-term methods.

She called for the need to intensify awareness about negative rumors about the use of IUDs.

She said that (IUDs are safe and long-term methods) and stressed the need to present known options of service methods.
She pointed out the need to expand the long-term planning service after the increase in displacement and war rates in the country, stressing the readiness of the River Nile Family Planning Association to train doctors, assistants and health partners to provide quality service to beneficiaries.

For her part, Dr. Safa’a Bakhit, Director of the Motherhood and Childhood File in Reproductive Health at the Federal Ministry of Health, said that the 2025-2030 plan aims to reduce maternal deaths through training for health cadres and with high quality.

She said, when addressing the activities of the long-term family planning workshop organized by the River Nile Family Planning Association in cooperation with the Reproductive Health Department and with the support of the United Nations Population Fund, that the next stage will witness further expansion of the umbrella of training doctors in the centers with health partners to spread awareness about long-term family planning methods.

For her part, Dr. Salma Habib, Director of the Reproductive Health Department at the River Nile Ministry of Health, revealed the continuation of training health cadres in the state to provide quality services in the state. She praised the great role of the United Nations Population Fund in supporting reproductive health activities in the River Nile State.
