Narcissistic Acts: The sin of a good person!

By: Alaa Babiker

I have recently read a very interesting quote, the one on the above photo. It days “The sin of a good person is to think that everyone is like him”. As it appears in the photo, this quote was said by Fyodor Dostoevsky, the famous Russian novelist, short story writer, essayist and journalist. Dostoevsky was known of the novella Notes from the Underground (1864) and the great novels Crime and Punishment (1866), The Idiot (1869), The Possessed (1872), and The Brothers Karamazov (1880), which focuses on the problem of evil, the nature of freedom, and the characters’ craving for some kind of faith.

This quote has deep meaning, especially in our lives. “The sin of a good person is to think that everyone is like him”. Many of us try very hard to satisfy the others, parents, friends, relatives, neighbors and even communities, just to prove that we are good people. We try very hard until we forget our true selves, the way we make efforts to persuade others makes us fragile and volatile to forget our values. Others are not like us, many are evil and when we make great efforts trying to prove to them that we are good, the process of us trying gives them nothing but an easy access to our thoughts and powers. We dive into deep unconsciousness of giving them all that we have, and later discover that they were just playing it all along to drag us to the bottom. They feed on all of our positive energies but gradually leak negativity and bad thoughts into our minds. They keep playing bad games that will eventually keep leaking into our heads, making us act as they act, making sins of our own, and then by only contacting them we will be on our way to committing sins!

Ever since I have grown up, I’m hearing that the world as we know it is about to end. Everyone is expecting the end of the whole universe, forgetting that the end is different from one person to another. No one knows the time of the real end nor how it will be. But we are absolute that the end of every single person comes different and sudden. It is better not to focus on the great end rather than focusing on not to make sins of our own and always ask for forgiveness.

Good people have clear hearts, I agree that their sin is they think everyone thinks of them positively and purely. Please do not listen to anyone who tries to convince you to do something that you are not convinced of. And as its known, every adult knows right and wrong, its just some bad people choose to do the wrong thing and then convince others to make it as well. Do not be aware of just frauds, but also be aware of bad people that will make you do sins!

May Allah grant wisdom and positive thinking to our leaders to end this war.
