Editorial :Revival of Energy and Oil Sector

Minister of Energy and Oil, Dr. Mohi El-Din Al-Naeem, concluded a successful visit to China, during which he signed a number of agreements with the Chinese authorities concerned in the fields of oil and electricity.
The Minister’s visit, which according to experts and observers is the largest of its kind in years, laid a solid foundation reviving the electricity sector in Sudan, especially in the field of renewable energies such as wind and solar energy.
The Sudanese delegation presented a number of files for joint cooperation with the Chinese side, including empty squares for investment in oil and natural gas, in addition to building a new refinery in Port Sudan and rehabilitating the Khartoum refinery and power stations after the destruction caused by the war that was ignited by the rebel Rapid Support Militia on April 15, 2023.
China is considered a strategic partner for Sudan in the oil sector, while Sudan is an entry point for China towards commercial and economic investments in the African continent. It is no wonder that Sudan, during its difficult circumstances resulting from the war, is heading towards restoring its strategic relations with China, considering that the truth of a friend’s metal becomes clear in times of hardship and distress, which is what Sudan had hoped for. China did not disappoint it in this direction, as it opened its arms wide to receive a delegation from the Ministry of Energy and Oil, which intended to visit it considering the great destruction that had befallen the oil and energy sector as a result of the war.
The visit of the Minister of Energy and Oil and the accompanying technical delegation to the People’s Republic of China answered many questions about what is going on in the mind of the Sudanese government about the future of this
The vital and important sector, which was subjected to violent shocks due to the systematic targeting by the Rapid Support Militia.
In conclusion China is the strategic partner, and the driving force that the Sudan will rely on to contribute with other parties to building and rebuilding what the war destroyed.
