Jaber reviews indicators of agricultural season

Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Assistant Commander-in-Chief, 1st. Lieutenant General (Engineer) , Ibrahim Jaber reviewed indicators of the success of the summer agricultural season in the country.

This came during the briefing he received from the Federal Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. Abu Bakr Al-Bushra, about the progress of the agricultural season and the ongoing preparations for the start of the winter crop.
Minister of Agriculture said in a press statement that the current summer agricultural season is one of the most successful agricultural seasons that the country has experienced, pointing out that about 139 million acres have been cultivated with a diverse crop composition that included about 17 million acres of corn, considering that it represents most of the citizens’ food, confirming the denial of malicious rumors claiming the presence of signs of famine in Sudan, adding that high rainfall rates and good distribution throughout the year have contributed to the success of the crop. He expects to achieve high productivity of corn and millet crops that exceed the year’s productivity and is estimated at about seven million tons. It is above the country’s needs, which do not exceed five million tons, which contributes to the availability of a strategic stock, stressing that the state will purchase it from farmers

Meanwhile, the Minister of Agriculture honored the member of the Sovereignty Council, 1st. Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber, supervisor of the agricultural sector in the country, for his great and effective role in overcoming many problems and following up on the provision of requirements for the success of this season.
