AcoGaps celebrates the World Day of Social Responsibility

The African Center for Governance, Peace and Transition Studies (AcoGaps), in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development, celebrated the World Day of Social Responsibility.
The program also witnessed the signing of the Sudan Declaration of Social Responsibility “2024”, on Thursday, October 3rd, at the Social Security Hall in Port Sudan, under the patronage of the representative of the Red Sea Governor, Professor Fathallah Al-Hajj, who addressed the celebration, along with the representative of the Ministry of Social Development, Dr. Maha Shabo, the Director General of Training and Administrative Reform in the Red Sea, Dr. Mujahid Haroun, the Director of the African Center for Governance, Peace and Transition Studies, Dr. Mahmoud Zain Al-Abdin, and a number of officials, personalities and symbols.
In this regard, the representative of the Federal Ministry of Social Development, Dr. Maha Shabo, expressed her hope to implement social protection programs with partners, noting that everyone knows the importance of social responsibility in development issues, stressing that the ministry supports social responsibility programs and projects under all names through holding workshops, courses and awareness.
She pointed out that seven conferences were held within the framework of social responsibility through training specialists in social responsibility, but the conferences were in the states’ government institutions which coordinate with each other within the framework of social services, indicating that Sudan is in dire need of social responsibility with the suffering from recurring crises.
For his part, the Director of the African Center for Governance, Peace and Transition Studies, Dr. Mahmoud Zain Al-Abdin, confirmed their interest in social work, especially social responsibility programs, in addition to integrating environmental, economic and social issues with cultural and institutional values in addressing various issues, pointing out that the AcoGaps, within the framework of social responsibility, works in the axes of awareness, spreading the culture of social responsibility, training and capacity building, in addition to advocacy and technical support, noting that through these axes, the center was able to provide many training courses, programs and initiatives that are consistent and in harmony with the state’s priorities and the necessities of the stage, in addition to the noble values of the state, stressing the importance of celebrating the World Day of Social Responsibility to confirm the role of the individual towards society, as well as making this day a legacy on which future interventions are built and in which the culture of collective work and social responsibility is deepened, which has become necessary for the development of local communities and participation in reconstruction and development.
He indicated Sudan’s approach to the post-war stage, which requires everyone to stand together to mobilize the spirits in order to rebuild Sudan and reconstruct what the war destroyed;
It is worth noting that the celebration was attended by several institutions, with the participation of the Regional Network for Social Responsibility, in addition to the participation of civil society organizations and the Commercial Farmers Bank.
