AIDL highlights Chad’s dual role in the Sudan war

The International Coalition for Rights and Freedoms (AIDL) shed light on the dual role played by the State of Chad in the current conflict in Sudan, as the statement included the submission of a report by international experts on the ongoing violations of Rapid Support and Chad’s role in that, as the arrival of weapons to Am Jars Airport in Chad.

This came in the statement that the organization presented to the Human Rights Council at its 56th session, and in the special session of the rapporteur on human rights in the State of Chad for its comprehensive periodic review, in the presence of a number of representatives of countries and the ambassador of the State of Chad in Geneva.
The statement addressed the situation of Sudanese refugees in Chad, affirming that the increasing number of refugees crossing into Chad comes due to the influx of more weapons
From the country of Chad to those border areas that are under the control of the Rapid Support Forces.
The statement confirmed that these weapons are being sent across the open Sudanese-Chadian border to the Darfur region, which is under the control of the Rapid Support Forces, and this matter represents a clear violation of the UN Security Council resolution related to the arms embargo to Darfur, according to the two known Umayyaresolution resolutions.
The information in the statement sparked angry reactions from some officials, as the Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Chad, and the Minister of Justice and Human Rights objected to the statement of the International Alliance for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms, considering it inaccurate, as it stated that Chad’s borders with Sudan are very large and there is tribal overlap, and there was no response. The Ambassador commented on the points raised in the statement

The representative of the organization said in an intervention during the session:
Talking about this topic disturbed some of the attendees, but we affirm that it is our duty to focus on the basic and important issues to ensure the achievement of justice and peace in Sudan and the entire region, and we hope that these points will be included in the final report of the 57th session.
Serious steps must be taken to put an end to these violations and protect human rights in Darfur and all parts of Sudan.
