Madani: Towards Un-known Destiny

Just a week before the hostilities extended to Madani, My sister arrived there safely and she had sent me a photo of her daughters happily smiling near the cupboard at thier home after wearing new clothes. One morning, her daughter, one year old girl started to walk clumsily towards the house door as she saw a pigeon landing there. Suddenly, she began crying when she heard the terrifying sound of random shooting near where they live at Riyad area. Her mother Jamila said the successive ruthless firing was so powerful that it shook the floor and furniture. Mohamed Osman, her husband from his flour-mill came home running to take his children a way from the range of bombing…They found a truck that took them to Gedaref. Mohamed and his family left thier property and had mothing except the clothes on thier fleshes..
Mohamed”s house turned into a house for the individuals of Rapid Support who made feast out of the livestock in another house nearby. Later, mohamed told us that his house with the bomhing of military aircraft was destroyed. Every thing was lost: thier new T.V Screen, oven, children clothes and furniture. Now, he and his family have taken a refuge at Alafa Village on the frontier with Eriteria.Lots of inhabitants of Gedaref want to go back to thier hometown and enjoy a better stable life in a peaceful Sudan.
.Mohamed says that the smile of his young daughter is a consolation because he thinks lost possession can be compensated. Amar, Jamila’s brother is a member of the central reserve police force had been rescued with his colleagues by a force of an army that enabled them to withdraw peacefully.”We were one thousand soldiers and to resist we hurried to the weapons depot but there were only 200 rifles.'” Without an intervention of army, many of us could have been killed”” Amar said.
The saving of the personell of central reserve force in thier camp is a nice work. The army shiould start an evacuation process of civilians to safe cities instead of leaving them besieged under the attacks of Rapid Support and the air strikes by provision of subsidized means of transport because of war lots of natives were impoverished so they should not be left as victims of random shelling or suffering from exhaustion as result of walking on foot.On the basis of the intelligence information if the condition is dangerous, there must be precautions to protect ordinary people.
Is there a treason among the members of the Sudanese army? What has happened? The matter is puzzling for any observer who has heard of the take-over the city of Madani, the second largest strategic city after the capital Khartoum as its fall paves the way to east Sudan:Kasssla,Gedaref and PortSudan, the Sudan’s access to the Red sea and the stronghold of the General Abdelfatah AlBurhan…The world is watching to see what is in store for this peaceful haven of African communities. .Will the acolytes of General change thier position by tending to negotiations that will save the Sudanese people or incline to resistence that proved to be useless with the progress of Rapid Support Forces that will ruin the whole country one city after another. What common people need isn’t the outcomes of an army investigation about the pull out of its elements from Madani. They need a quick cessation of figjhting, reconstruction and redress of grievances.
One feels the most diisappointed and neglected person around the globe as he or she recalls the evacuation of foreign nationals at the beginning of war.Are thier lives more precious than Sudanese?! Why are humans in this poor country are left to the unknown fate to being used as human shields or as preys for robbery and an aggressive war. It’s sad that the authorities, regional and International organizations including the African Union and the Arab League are doing nothing as they are supposed to withdraw the civilians to safe sheltering centers in Sudan or bordering countries until confllict is resolved.
Most of residents in Gedaref have started to move to other cities to keep the safety of thier families especially children and women who are prone to abuses of war. In this winter, the streets are empty at night because of the curfew that has brought to the city the sense of isolation and solitude experienced in the days of Corona Virus epidemic..In front of one of pharmacies a young man was lying on the ground and obviously his body was shivering as if felt cold..Has he got malaria? I asked his brother.”No, “Dana” had fallen around him at Shambat” he said pointing to one of indiscriminating shells that hit Khartoum.I pray for him and all Sudanese families and hope the situation in Medani and iother improves. Thanks to Saudia Arabia whose grant of wheat flour has reached every employee. But that doesn”t cover the immediate needs.Therefore, the support should be continued and a cease-fire must be considered for the benefit of all Sudanese people.
