Khartoum rejects deployment of foreign troops in Sudan

The Sudanese government issued a statement today.on the meeting of IGAD’s quad committee on Sudan.
The statement affirmed that the arrival of Sudan’s delegation in Addis Ababa before the start of the meeting and its prior coordination with the organizers proved the honest desire of the Sudanese government to find a solution, and that what is stipulated in the communique about the absence of the Sudanese delegation is untrue, adding that the statement of the quad committee should have pointed that the non-participation of the Sudanese government delegation was because the objection on the presidency of the Kenyan President to the committee.
The communique included a call for EASF states summit to discuss the possibility of deploying troops to protect the citizens and the flow of humanitarian assistance.
In this regard, the Sudanese government would like to affirm that the humanitarian assistance from the international community reaches the needed people smoothly.
The Sudanese government welcomes the neighboring countries summit which will take place in Cairo on 13 July 2023 to discuss the Sudanese crisis.
The Sudanese government rejects the previous statements of the Kenyan President which he repeated in the press conference.
The Sudanese government also expresses astonishment on the statements of the Ethiopian Prime Minister that there is a vacuum in Sudan’s leadership which means that he is not recognizing the present leadership. It also reject his call to impose no-fly zone and disarmament from heavy weapons which contradicts with his direct understandings with the Head of the Sovereignty Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces.
The government of Sudan considers such statements as intervention in the sovereignty of Sudan a matter which is unacceptable.
The Sudanese government would like to inform IGAD that not respecting the views of the member states will lead Sudan to reconsider its membership in the organization.
