IGAD Plans to Stop the War in Sudan and Allowed for Humanitarian Delivery

Following the 14th extraordinary session of the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD), which was held in Djibouti, Monday 12th, 2023.
Kenyan president William Ruto and IGAD leaders have proposed plans on Sudanese crisis and ways for peace resolutions to stop the war, the statement read by Ruto.
“The quartet of Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia and South Sudan will in the next ten days’ meet face to face
with generals in Sudan Burhan and Hemditi in direct engagement.
Firstly, we can speak to the generals on behalf of IGAD with a view of stopping the war in Sudan, seizing all manner of hostilities, ensuring that we have a commitment from them to stop the war that is going on in Sudan, so that we can save the lives of the people, the infrastructure that is being destroyed at the moment and all other destruction that is going on in Sudan.
Secondly, we have also agreed that in the next two weeks we will discuss with generals on providing a humanitarian corridor, so that humanitarian support can be available to those in need especially the children, women and the people who are effected by the war.
Thirdly, we have agreed that in the next three weeks we will begin the process of an inclusive national dialogue to get the people of Sudan the opportunity for them to discuss in their diversity the issues of their country and the generals also have opportunity to send representatives so that we can move the country forward”.
