Chopping off the viper’s head is the remedy

The recent turmoil in Sudan has brought attention to the roles of various military and paramilitary groups in the country. One such group is the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), led by the infamous paramilitary leader Hemeti. This group has been responsible for a number of violent incidents and has been accused of committing war crimes against Sudanese citizens. The danger that Hemeti and the RSF pose to Sudan’s peace and stability is clear, and action must be taken to hold them accountable and prevent further violence.

Hemeti’s rise to power began with his involvement in the Darfur conflict, where he served as a commander of the Janjaweed, a notorious group that committed atrocities against civilians in the region. In 2013, he became the commander of the RSF, which was initially formed to counter armed rebels in Darfur but has since expanded its reach. Under Hemeti’s leadership, the RSF has been accused of carrying out a number of atrocities, including the violent suppression of protests in Sudan in 2019.

The danger of Hemeti and the RSF lies in their willingness to use violence to achieve their goals. They have shown a complete disregard for human rights and the rule of law, and their actions have contributed to the destabilization of Sudan. The RSF’s involvement in the violent suppression of protests in 2019 led to the deaths of dozens of civilians and the arrest and torture of hundreds of others. Their presence in areas of conflict has also led to cases of rape, torture, and extrajudicial killings.

Public support for the army

The Sudanese have stood firmly behind their national army in its fight against the Janjaweed rebels. The Janjaweed rebels have caused immense suffering and destruction in Sudan, especially in the Darfur region. The Sudanese people have suffered from their atrocities for years and have been waiting for a decisive action against them. The national army has finally stepped up to take them down, and the people of Sudan have shown their support for this operation. The army has been successful in neutralizing many Janjaweed camps and capturing their leaders, which has boosted the morale of the people of Sudan. There is no doubt that their unwavering support has given the army a much-needed boost to defeat the Janjaweed rebels and bring peace to the country.

The youth are against RSF

The Sudanese revolution has been ongoing for over a year, and the youth of Sudan have been at the forefront of demanding change. One of the central demands of the Sudanese revolutionaries has been the dismantling of the Rapid Support paramilitary group and the prosecution of its commander, Hemeti.

The Rapid Support forces have been accused of numerous human rights abuses, including the violent suppression of protests and attacks against civilians in the Darfur region, especially over the past four years, namely in West Darfur state, with the ongoing random attacks in the area are a reminiscence of what the locals have been subject to throughout almost two decades.

The remedy

Hemeti has been identified as a key figure responsible for the actions of the Rapid Support forces. He remains accused of overseeing the group’s operations and ordering attacks against civilians. The youth of Sudan, along with human rights groups and international organizations, are calling for his prosecution and the dismantling of the Rapid Support forces.

The Janjaweed leader (Hemeti) poses a serious threat to national security in Sudan due to the actions of his militia. It is essential that he is brought to justice and his rebellious paramilitaries are neutralized to prevent further harm from his group. So, the arrest or elimination of the Janjaweed leader is necessary for the security and well-being of the Sudanese people. Only then can Sudan move forward and work towards lasting peace and stability for its people.
