New archaeological discovery in Sudan: El-Masar website 7th March

The National Authority for Antiquities in Khartoum revealed the discovery of a sandstone obelisk dating back to the Meroitic period in the Kudrama area, north of Delgo Al-Mahas.
The authority’s archaeological excavation official; Abdel Hay Abdel Sawi, told Darfur 24,” The new archaeological discovery was made through a mission from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Khartoum.
Abdel Hai pointed out the importance of the obelisk in identifying the reading of the events of history, as it contains valuable information documenting the events that took place during that period.
According to Abd al-Hay, the length of the obelisk inscribed in the Meroitic language is about 40 cm.
He drew attention to the vandalism that affected archaeological areas as a result of native mining and gangs specialized in stealing antiquities.
Meanwhile, Abd al-Hay revealed that a Polish mission had found a church and a basement containing wall paintings in natural colors and the remains of the Kushi Temple, which will be announced in detail soon.
