Security Arrangements Committee discusses report on military committee’s participation in Juba workshop
The Deputy Head of the Darfur Track Security Arrangements Committee Lieutenant General Suleiman Sandal Haqar, said that the committee meeting held, today in Khartoum discussed the military committee’s participation in the Juba workshop to evaluate the agreement and the new updated matrix that took place between the parties to the peace process and the government, with regional and international participation.
Sandal added in a statement to SUNA that the workshop gave a new impetus to the Juba Agreement so that implementation continues according to specific mechanisms agreed upon,
He underlined that the meeting also touched on the commitment of the state and the signatories to the Juba Peace Agreement to implement the agreement that stopped the war the participation of the international and regional community, which had a major role in reaching this new matrix, which maintains the continuation of the irreplaceable peace, because no one wants to return to war again.
Sandal lauded the participation of Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and President of the State of South Sudan, Lieutenant General Salva Kiir Mayardit, which had a great impact on the success of the Juba peace workshop, stressing the progress in implementing the Juba Peace Agreement.
He said that the meeting decided to send a high-level delegation to find out the latest arrangements for graduating of the first batch of the Civilian Protection Force in Darfur, in addition to completing the start of entering the second batch into the camp.
He added that there is one remaining procedure, relating to inclusion the forces of the movements in the armed forces, police, security services, and rapid support forces so that they can provide all support and attribution to the official agencies to maintain security in all of Sudan.
Sandal said that the work of some committees has been reviewed in order to improve their work, such as the Permanent Ceasefire Committee and other committees, which will contribute to increasing efforts to establish security and stability in Darfur.
